JUST ANNOUNCED: The August-September start-up season for The Helena Institute (Helena, Montana) offers more than thirty participatory learning courses from the area's multidimensional artists in everything from growing an organic garden, fly fishing, scuba diving, to woodworking. Writers are involved, too, with published authors Ellen Baumler, Kae Cheatham and Mike Logan< offering their skill in different workshops. Information about registration is available at the site.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Butler on her new title Honeysuckle. On Saturday, 13 June 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Butler will be at The Sly Fox Bookstore in Virden, Illinois signing her newest book which is set in Southern, Illinois in 1929. She will also have her six other titles which include Calico, and JD's Rustler.
Mark Mellon, author of the action western The Pirooters has a short story online. The contemporary Western yarn, "Down To The Frenchman's Place," can be found at Rope and Wire, a Western ezine.

May 1st has been declared Buy Indie Day. The idea: buy one book—paperback, hardcover, audiobook, whatever you want!—at an independent bookstore near you. Western author Cornell Cole will be talking about his book, Balan: The Moral Assassin. at several New Mexico locations. On 11 March, author/historian Linda Aksomitis begins a dynamic Virtual Tour for her young reader book Longhorns and Outlaws.
